IMPROVEMENT STATUS REPORT BASED UPON ACT ASPIRE RESULTS (2016-2017) FOR 2017-2018:

All schools in the Pottsville School District are fully accredited through the Arkansas Department of Education. ACT Readiness Levels/Subject Profiency Levels are as follows: District (English 83%, Math 66%, Science 57%, Reading 51%, Writing 52%); Building Focus for 2017-2018 based upon results: High School (Improve Readiness Level in Math); Junior High (Improve Readiness Level in Math); Middle Grades (Improve Readiness Level in Writing); and Elementary (Improve Readiness Level in Writing). According to ADE, a "Needs Improvement" status should not be associated with school improvement status. It simply means the school missed one or more targets (as indicated) under the new accountability system. School leaders and teachers are analyzing the data to find out which students are not making their gains and developing teaching and learning strategies to help each student achieve.

ESSA ACCOUNTABILITY AMO AND IMPROVEMENT STATUS:

2017: Results still pending.

2016: All schools in the Pottsville School District are fully accredited through the Arkansas Department of Education. The target Annual Measurable Objectives (AMOs) for Pottsville School District and our schools have been set at high levels because of our consistently high student performance. District (achieving in percent tested, above state average for all students and tagg studens in math, literacy, and graduation rate); High School (achieving in percent tested and above state average for all students and tagg students in literacy and graduation rate, below in math; Jr. High (achieving in percent tested and above state average for all students and tagg students in literacy and math); Middle Grades (achieving in percent tested and above state average for all students and tagg students in both literacy and math); and Elementary (achieving in percent tested and above state average for both all students and tagg students in both literacy and math). Based upon the new ACT Aspire data (listed above), teachers are analyzing the data to find out which students are not making their gains and developing teaching and learning strategies to help each student achieve.

2015: All schools in the Pottsville School District are fully accredited through the Arkansas Department of Education. The target Annual Measurable Objectives (AMOs) for Pottsville School District and our schools have been set at high levels because of our consistently high student performance. District (Achieving in literacy and math AMOs); High School (Achieving in literacy AMO, but in Needs Improvement in math AMO); Jr. High (Achieving in both literacy and math AMOs); Middle Grades (Achieving in both literacy and math AMOs); and Elementary (Achieving in both literacy and math AMOs).

2014:  All schools in the Pottsville School District are fully accredited through the Arkansas Department of Education. Pottsville School District continues to meet Average Yearly Progress as required by the Arkansas Department of Education for benchmark and EOC testing scores. The target Annual Measurable Objectives (AMOs) for Pottsville School District and our schools have been set at high levels because of our consistently high student performance. Consequently, Pottsville School District is classified as a Needs Improvement District (AMO target in literacy and math). Pottsville High School, Pottsville Jr. High, Pottsville Middle Grades, and Pottsville Elementary are classified as Needs Improvement Schools: High School (AMO target in Literacy); Junior High Schools (AMO target in Math); Middle Grades (AMO target in Math); and Elementary (AMO target in Literacy).
